Bust Magazine: Oakland!

Really enjoyed spending time in Oakland to shoot this travel story for Bust Magazine. The East Bay has so much to offer; I'm always looking for an excuse to spend the day over there. And now, commuting on a new Bay Bridge!

It was cool to discover places new to me like the beatutiful Mountainview Cemetery and Gondola Servizio on Lake Merritt. And to visit some new favorites like Brown Sugar Kitchen and Mua. I have been a BIG FAN of BUST for years (big fan!) and I am pretty excited to share this.

I photographed Belcampo's Anya Fernald for Diablo's Women to Watch feature. What a dynamic lady! You can read the article here and you can sample their delicious meat at their restaurant and butcher counter in Larkspur. Their specialty is beef, but I highly recommend the chicken livers! 

Shooting with Mindy Fox for La Cucina Italiana

 I worked with writer Mindy Fox on this story about Farina's pesto. This is part one, in San Francisco. Mindy is full of energy and good ideas, and notices every detail. Gotta love that!

Record Shopping

Some of the images from my current promo: Record Shopping on Haight Street. We visited Rooky's Records and Groove Merchant both in Lower Haight. 

I only own one record, (which I bought solely for the cover picture of Cindy Lauper a la Man Ray by Annie Leibovitz). But one thing I learned from hanging out in record stores all day long is that it will put you in a really good mood.

Cozy Day

I have had family here from Florida for the past week for an early holiday visit. My house was packed full of people I love and don't get to see often enough. Never a dull moment!

Now it's a chilly, foggy day and the house is way too quiet and empty. Tea in my delicate new pink cups was just what the doctor ordered.

Truffle Hunting in Alba

In the spirit of Autumn I pulled some Farina Cookbook images from the archives.

One of the most unique experiences I had while shooting the cookbook was truffle hunting in Alba, Italy. As I'm sure you know, truffle foragers (like mushroom foragers) are VERY secretive about their truffle spots. It was quite an honor to get to tag along and take pictures.

Since we were in Italy at the height of truffle season, we ate truffles every single night at dinner, no exaggerating...and we were there for ten days. It was a rich and intense dining experience.

Kim and Nick got Married

Jesse and I spent some time up in Portland with our friends Kim and Nick in the days leading up to their wedding. This involved spurts of wedding prep interspersed with getting to know Kim and Nick's family, hanging out with our dearest friends, and followed by late night visits to fun bars in our area. A little work and a lot of fun!
