Indian Wedding

This past November I traveled with my family to India to attend the wedding of my sister-and-brother-in- law. The wedding was in Nasik which is about four hours north of Bombay. We were there for barely a week and it was a whirlwind of traveling, ceremonies, meeting new family, learning new customs, delicious food, upset stomachs, shopping and drinking and visiting and fun fun times. There were about 20 of us that traveled from the US to attend the wedding, and we all donned traditional Indian clothes for the three days of ceremonies. Wrapping a sari is an art in itself, and I had to have help getting dressed several days in a row. There’s nothing like nine yards of fabric to make you feel completely intimidated, but also nothing like a bunch of graceful ladies fussing over you to make you feel special.

Pretty Green Girl

I recently discovered a blog I love: Pretty Green Girl. Janet is so inspiring (and adorable!) that I had to shoot some photos of her in action. She baked Savory Broccoli Cakes (yum!) from a recipe which she got here. Check out Pretty Green Girl for useful tips on sustainable living and get ready to be inspired!

As always many thanks to Nikol Elaine for making everyone look beautiful!

Lovely Ivana

It is so refreshing to hang out with a ten year old for the afternoon! We had a blast blowing bubbles and making Ivana pose with like, 1000 pictures before we would let her eat the cupcake we bought for a prop. Chocolate with coffee icing…yum!

Modern Coffee

Discovered a coffee shop I love in downtown Oakland,  Modern Coffee. Fabulous people and a true love of coffee.

Baby Olivia

One of my clients, Monica Viarengo, just had a baby a couple months ago and I finally got to meet her. What a sweet, wise and adorable baby girl!

Angela got married:)

And as you can imagine-as a photographer, it was really hard to decide on a photographer to hire. Thank you to our dear friend and colleague Matt Reamer for doing a most excellent job of photographing the wedding!

Martina Butler

I recently collaborated with a fabulous young lady I have known since she was in grade school.

Martina Butler is quite the young entrepreneur. She started her podcast, Emo Girl Talk, in 2005 when she was 15. Since then she has been featured in Seventeen Magazine, The NY Times, The Wall Street Journal, and the book "The Richest Kids in America" (about young entrepreneurs) written by Mark Victor Hansen, the creator of Chicken Soup for the Soul.

In addition to weekly updates to Emo Girl Talk, Martina also co-hosts Music Video Reform School with her partner in crime, Jackie Hollywood, in which they critique music videos.

She is currently working on a degree in Radio and Television at SF State. When she has graduated and is hosting her own talk show, hopefully she will have me on as a guest!

Red Head

I visited New Orleans recently and while I was there I arranged a couple shoots with some local models. Through a friend I was able to shoot in a warehouse where she takes trapeze lessons. We had to negotiate a web of storage areas, temporary and permanent housing areas, creepy characters, and old antique clutter to find a spot where we could shoot uninterrupted.
