Autumn in Farm Country

My Aunts Holli and Jenny have been working on their cabin in the woods outside of Laurelville, Ohio for ten years or more. They are finally living there full time. On my visit there were plenty of morning walks in the beautiful woods, corn fields, curious neighbors, pumpkin patches, collaborative meals, fresh apple cider and no cell service. Gotta love that.

Pumpkin Obsession

My mom has a bit of a pumpkin obsession. Every year as soon as September hits she starts looking for pumpkins to decorate her yard...and house...and porch, and to give away to friends and family. This year we happened to take a trip during that time to visit my aunts, one in Saratoga Springs, New York, and two in Laurelville, Ohio. The whole time she shopped for pumpkins. She claimed they were having a 'bad year for pumpkins' in Florida where she lives...but I think she just wanted to shop for pumpkins.

In Ohio we were lucky enough to come across Roger Kline who is just as passionate about pumpkins and gourds as she is, and who usually takes a first place ribbon or two in the Circleville Pumpkin Show. She was like a kid in a candy store. It's a good thing she just so happened to bring an extra bag to bring all her bright orange treasures home.
